WHITEHAVEN “SAMANTHA” MÉTHODE SPARKLES WITH GOLD
Crafted in exceptionally limited quantities, this elegant sparkling wine is a celebration of Samantha White, daughter of Whitehaven founders Greg and Sue, as she continues the legacy that her parents created together.
This is Whitehaven’s second release of ‘Samantha’ Méthode Traditionnelle, a blend of Chardonnay (69%) and Pinot Noir (31%) exclusively from Whitehaven vineyards.
This Méthode Traditionnelle is a fine and elegant dry style of wine with freshness, gentle creaminess and impeccable balance. Aged on lees for complexity, it delivers fresh citrus, crunchy apple, biscuit notes and a fine bubble mousse. It’s a wine made for celebrating moments big and small, and now it has the gold to match, recently awarded Gold by dish Magazine’s very own tasting panel.
Established in 1994 in the heart of Marlborough, Whitehaven is the realisation of the White family’s dream to craft wines of uncompromising quality. That dream began when Sue and Greg White sailed the Pacific aboard the Chanticleer, eventually dropping anchor in the Marlborough Sounds and charting an entirely new course: the creation of Whitehaven Wines.
Their daughter, Samantha (with Sue below), spent her very first months at sea and was just two years old when her parents founded Whitehaven Wines. Growing up with Marlborough’s vineyards as her backdrop, Samantha inherited not only her parents’ pioneering spirit, but a deep appreciation for the land and the craft of winemaking.
Today, Whitehaven remains proudly family-owned and is led by Sue, who continues the vision she shared with her late husband, Greg. In 2020, Samantha joined the family business, stepping confidently into the legacy that carries her name. After completing a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing & International Business from Victoria University, she is now expanding her expertise with a degree in Viticulture & Winemaking currently underway, bringing a new generation of knowledge to the winery’s future.
It is in her honour that the gold award-winning “Samantha” Cuvée is named. With every bottle, Whitehaven proudly raises a glass to the next chapter - and to the woman helping shape it.
