Drop of the Day - OTU Classic Hawkes Bay Rosé

The bright berry flavours and crispness of this luscious 2020 Merlot Rose make it a perfect match for Prawn Chorizo and Chilli Pasta.
This article was created in partnership with OTU Wine
The winemakers at OTU Estate chose Merlot grapes to make their rosé to produce a wine with a broad spectrum of aromas and flavours, from strawberry to red plum. They used a cool fermentation method in a temperature controlled tank to retain those bright berry flavours and to attain crispness that make up the signature style of their rosé.
The resulting wine, recently awarded 5 stars and 93 points by Wine Orbit, is as crisp and berry-fruity as they intended. As well as the strawberry and plum notes, there is cherry, and raspberry lusciousness. It's exactly the kind of fresh, flavourful wine to have on hand as the weather gets warmer.
We reckon the aromatic fruitiness would be the perfect complement to barbecues, picnics or our Prawn Chorizo and Chilli Pasta and the beautiful new label would look great gracing any kitchen bench or dining table.
The ancient Otuwhero River, gives OTU Wine its name, and is fed by melting snows from surrounding mountain peaks. This provides their estate with seams of rich alluvial gravels that rise through our silt and clay soils - delivering bold minerality, intensity and ripe opulence to their wines. They bring leading edge winemaking to ancient soils. Their approach is contemporary and leading; gathered over more than a decade, through seasons that have been both immensely challenging and very rewarding.
