Drop of the Day - Amisfield

Amisfield’s Reserve Pinot Noir 2016 a magic match with slow-cooked beef cheeks.
This wine is produced from grapes grown in a single block within the Amisfield estate known as the Rocky Knoll Vineyard (Hence RKV). It’s a very special piece of the vineyard that has both North and South facing aspects where the Lochar soils are gravelly with a very thin layer of loose, sandy loam which naturally produce smaller berries and lower yields. Some parcels of the hand-harvested fruit are fermented with wild yeasts in-situ, among the vines from which they grew, which makes this wine an authentic expression of the terroir.
It has generous layers of complexity with a defined savoury character of coffee and liquorice, balanced by Black Doris Plums and liquored cherries. The tannins are fine grained with a soft palate from the lower acidity of the harvest.
All Amisfield wines are available online here, including a number of library wines that aren’t available anywhere else.
